Tricks to Looking Younger
Posted on December 13th, 2011 No commentsCurling eyelashes makes you look younger, causes your eyes to pop, and look more alert.
We just finished a photo shoot and most everyone needed their eyelashes curled. The difference was amazing. Just the simple act of curling your lashes will draw your eyelashes
upward. They will appear longer and your eyes will look more open. These two effects result in a younger looking you! As we age, our features begin to lose that freshness; eyes tend
to droop a bit more and lashes are less then luscious. Using the right makeup to your advantage, and knowing the right tools to use can help fool the eye and cheat some years off
your face. In just a few seconds your eyes can go from dull to lively with just the squeeze of a lash curler.Technique
Always curl lashes before primer and mascara are applied; otherwise you take a risk of breaking off your eyelashes.
For maximum effect you want to get as close to the base as possible without pinching your skin.Clasp down lightly at first to make sure you are where you need to be with the curler. Then firmly hold for a full five seconds. Your goal is to create a beautiful curve, not an L shape kink, so you will need to experiment with the lash curler to achieve optimum results. Be sure to release the eyelashes fully before pulling it away from your eye.
It’s important to clean the curler every so often so bacteria is not collecting on it day after day and going into your eye. Just a cotton swab with a bit of witch hazel will do the trick, or a quick rinse in soapy water. Make sure to leave it out to dry in an open position so you don’t get it rusted.

How to Create the Perfect Cat Eyeliner
Posted on December 1st, 2011 No commentsHere’s how to do it in three super simple steps.
1. Put concealer on to your eyelids which makes your eyeshadow adheres
2. Black liquid liner—sweep the liner all the way from the inner corner of the upper eyelid to the outer
corner as close to the lash line as possible, staring with a thin line and going thicker as you move along.3. Create a little “wing” at the outer corner of the eye, drawing the line up and out. Repeat until you get the desired effect. Let dry, curl your lashes and apply several coats of black mascara.

And here’s a tip: Make sure to keep the rest of your makeup neutral to avoid looking overdone.

Keeping Your Mineral Foundation looking Dewy not Matte
Posted on November 22nd, 2011 No commentsFoundations that are matte liquid, or mineral-based, can erase your youthful glow and that beautiful dewy look.
If you are using any foundation that has too much matte, it will accentuate facial dryness. As we age we tend to lose hydration, which leads to dullness of skin tone, and causes our face to look dry, tight and more wrinkled. In order to appear more youthful it is essential to make sure that the face looks hydrated, glowing and plump. As always, proper skincare is vital for younger looking skin. Oils can help create that perfect canvas for your foundation.
Mineral Powder Foundations can look beautiful and glowing on the face. As I stated above, you must start with proper skincare, and you must exfoliate so your canvas is in perfect shape to begin your mineral application. In all honesty, I have tried numerous mineral foundations and the only one that has worked well is the one we carry. I’m sure there are other great ones out there, but I just haven’t come across them yet.
Also, if you desire that youthful dewy look, applying a facial mister is a must! If your skin looks dry after you apply your minerals foundation, spritz a little of our Herbal Tonique or Vit C Ester onto your face and it will radiate beauty. The facial mister causes your minerals to look dewy and not matte, which is what you should aim for to have that youthful glow.
Liquid Minerals are another beautiful foundation if you desire that youthful glow. Personally I love the tinted mineral moisturizer as it goes on easily.
It is important to avoid being overzealous with the minerals in those danger zones which we have, such as the outer corners of eye area, tops of the cheekbones, the upper lip line, and the smile lines next to the mouth.

The Importance of Makeup
Posted on October 13th, 2011 No commentsHI Ladies,
I thought this was an interesting article, and thought you might enjoy it.
Women who wear makeup are perceived as more attractive and competent than those who do not, according to a recently released study headed by Harvard Medical School Assistant Professor Nancy L. Etcoff.
The study, titled “Cosmetics as a Feature of the Extended Human Phenotype: Modulation of the Perception of Biologically Important Facial Signals,” asked participants to judge a variety of women’s photographs based on a number of characteristics including attractiveness, competence, likeability, and trustworthiness.
Researchers were particularly interested to see how makeup affected judgments both automatically and after longer deliberation, they said.
“I’m interested in bringing science to the study of adornment,” said Etcoff, a psychology professor who has studied this topic for over 20 years. “The study aimed to address exactly what we look at when we judge a person, and what these tools do.”
The study, which involved researchers from the Massachusetts General Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Procter & Gamble Cosmetics, Boston University, and HMS, was first released in the online publication PLoS ONE on Monday.
In the study, two groups, each with over one hundred participants, were asked to rate photographs of female faces with varying levels of “color cosmetics” applied by a professional makeup artist. Participants in the first group only saw the photographs for 250 milliseconds, while those in the second group had an unlimited amount of time to examine them.
Judging a number of qualities, participants then used a sliding scale to input their ratings directly into a computer. The responses were sent to a statistician at Dana-Farber.
Findings revealed that cosmetics have a significant and automatic effect on judgments of attractiveness. Even more importantly, makeup provides additional facial stimuli that influence more long-term, deliberative judgments on social factors such as trustworthiness.
Sarah A. Vickery, co-researcher for the study and principal scientist at Procter & Gamble Beauty and Grooming, summarized these findings in an interview with CBS News.
“This means that makeup really can be seen as a tool in a woman’s arsenal that allows her to actually control the way the world sees her,” she said in the interview.
But despite the physically-oriented implications of these findings, the study also revealed that positive perception decreases as women apply heavier makeup. To this end, Etcoff emphasized that in no way should the study imply that women need to use cosmetics or abide by social convention.
“People don’t want to judge a book by its cover, and yet they still do,” she said. “But what matters is how we perceive ourselves. Women can still be confident and competent without makeup.”
Study: Cosmetics Significantly Influence Perceptions

Eye Colors for Spring
Posted on May 16th, 2011 No commentsIf you’re a rookie when it comes to colorful eye makeup, remember that choosing a contrasting shadow can really make your eyes pop.
For example, since orange and blue are complementary colors, coral shades will really bring out your baby blues. The same goes for purple hues if you have green eyes, or blue shades if you have brown eyes.
Green is the color of spring – not just in gardens, but on eye lids this season. Green eye shadow is to eyes what coral gloss is to lips. )
And another bonus? It looks amazing on brown eyes.
We are adding more amazing mineral eyeshadows hopefully within a month or so. Keep checking back with us at Nature’s Genesis
Have an amazing joy-filled day
