  • A New Supplement for Beautiful Skin

Posted on June 30th, 2011 tracy No comments

    HI Ladies,

I thought you would enjoy this little scientific find for beautiful skin.

An interesting article by Dr. Mercola on improving your skin, your health and your over all well being.

When it comes to free radical scavenging, astaxanthin can be as much as…

65 times more powerful than vitamin C*
    54 times stronger than beta-carotene*
14 times more potent than vitamin E*

Plus, astaxanthin has been shown to be more effective than other carotenoids and other nutrients at ‘singlet oxygen quenching’ by being up to…

550 times more powerful than vitamin E*
    800 times stronger than CoQ10*
6000 times greater than vitamin C*
550 times more powerful than green tea catechins*
    11 times stronger than beta-carotene*

The above comparisons have been made against some incredible nutrients in their own right. Yet, astaxanthin blows them away when it comes down to effective free radical scavenging and singlet oxygen quenching.*

And here’s even more on how astaxanthin is potentially so effective…

Able to cross the blood-brain barrier and the blood-retinal barrier (beta-carotene and some others don’t do this)…*
Protects your eyes, brain, and nervous system from oxidative stress*
Potentially reduces DNA damage caused by free radicals*

Any questions why I’m simply amazed at the healthful power of this super-antioxidant?* To date, I’ve never seen anything like it.

So, all you have to do is run out to your local health store or vitamin shop to pick up this extraordinary nutrient.

I’ve already reviewed above some of the potential pitfalls with some of the sources of astaxanthin.

Here’s a simple list of factors that I recommend you consider when finding a natural supplement formula…

Make sure the astaxanthin formula is created from natural marine microalgae and not some form of fungus, or some other less effective form.
Due to the fact astaxanthin is best absorbed when taken with a ‘fatty’ meal (lipid soluble), look for a formula that contains some sort of natural oil or fatty acid that will help maximize your absorption. Without this additional ingredient, your absorption could be less than optimal.
Don’t just settle for what’s necessarily on the label of the bottle. Dig deeper into finding out more info on how the manufacturer guarantees stability and efficacy of the formula.
In addition, make sure the manufacturer can provide solid evidence they don’t use chemical solvents or preservatives in their formulation processes.
Due to new research, most recommendations for daily dosages of natural astaxanthin can now range from 4-8mg. So, look for at least a 4mg minimum serving size so you won’t have to take as many capsules

  • This Popular Moisturizer Applied to Mice for 17 Weeks Got 69% More Tumors

Posted on June 21st, 2011 tracy No comments

A study has found that topical applications of moisturizers such as Dermabase, Dermovan, Eucerin Original Moisturizing Cream, or Vanicream could increase skin cancer risk.

Irradiated mice who were treated with the moisturizers exhibited a significant increase in their rate of tumor formation and increase in tumor size per mouse. Treatment of the mice with Dermabase, Dermovan, Eucerin, or Vanicream for 17 weeks increased the total number of histologically characterized tumors by 69 percent.

According to the study, as reported by Green Med Info:

“The results indicate that several commercially available moisturizing creams increase the rate of formation and number of tumors when applied topically to UVB-pretreated high-risk mice. Further studies are needed to determine the effects of topical applications of moisturizing creams … in humans.”

This also applies to tanning oils and lotions—which many of you may be using right now with summer in full swing—as well as the baby oil or lotion that many parents unwittingly slather on their babies.

  • One Key for Beautiful Younger Looking Skin

Posted on January 4th, 2011 tracy No comments

Who doesn’t desire younger looking skin? Exfoliating is a major key in our endeavor for beautiful skin. Why do we need to exfoliate our skin? We are removing our makeup thoroughly and we are using cleansers everyday to remove the dirt from our faces, aren’t those good enough? Sadly the answer is NO!

Due to metabolism, we have around 4% of dead skin built up on our face everyday. The skin cell regeneration cycle is from 21 days to 28 days. As we age, our skin tends to slow down the exfoliation process this is why we need to manually remove the build up of dead skin off our face. If we have too much dead skin left on the surface of our skin, it will slow down the regeneration cycle and our skin will be dull and without that healthy radiance.

What’s worse is, if we ignore the dead skin, it will eventually clog our pores leading to the formation of whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. Ultimately, exfoliation will reduce dullness and the appearance of wrinkles by breaking up and removing dead skin cell revealing new softer, clearer and glowing skin. It also helps in boosting the blood circulation. As you can see, exfoliation is a vital component for beautiful skin.

Even though exfoliation does our skin good, if it is used to often it can damage our skin. It is suggested to exfoliate once or twice a week, maybe more. Again, this is where we need to know our skin. I’m finding out I only need to use it 2x a week at this point. After exfoliating, your skin will be brightened up and smoothened out, but you will also feel that the skin is lighter and cleaner.

Follow with our Facial Oil, Serums or one of our great nourishing moisturizers. You will definitely notice a better absorption of our other all natural skin care products. Wouldn’t you want those products to get “fed” into the skin and work the wonders for you instead of just “sitting” on top of your skin together with the dead skin? Exfoliation is a must!

Our exfoliator is a non-abrasive anti-aging scrub which will leave your skin notably softer, smoother and brighter. Jojoba Bead Wax will gently remove the build up of dead skin cells. Results are beautiful younger looking skin. Ideal for all skin types

  • Fun Evening with Mineral Makeup.

Posted on June 2nd, 2010 tracy No comments

    HI Ladies,

Well, we hosted our first skincare/makeup party last week. We actually had a professional makeup artist come in and doll up all the ladies. I could have done it myself, but thought it would be fun to have someone else come in and help our first time around.

Her specialty was in the eye department. She did a great job. You could either go for the natural or eccentric look. Most of us went for the natural. Our all natural mineral eye shadows, eyeliners, and mascaras helped to create that perfect look. She gave tips on proper makeup application, and the necessity of professional makeup tools for creating the look you desire. The right brushes really do make a difference.

All in all it was a really fun evening. We hope to be doing these quite regularly, so if your interested please let me know. Besides the fact that these parties are just plain fun, we are offering the hostess some nice deals and discounts. We would start with our skincare line then proceed with our mineral makeup. As most of you know, great skincare products are a must for beautiful skin and also for proper application of mineral makeup.

We actually took some pictures and video footage of the evening and I’m hoping to have those on the website in the near future.

One other thing, we are going to be updating our website hopefully soon. Do you have any suggestions for the website? Anything you’d like to see, better navigation etc…. We are open for suggestions.

    Testimonies

I just wanted to put in a really good word for the Reparative Age-Defying serum, which I have been very impressed with to date. (I use it in my daily skin regimen.)Since the doc ordered me to start taking Tarceva (a non-small-cell cancer drug), I have been even more impressed with the serum. The drug has made all my skin so very, very dry!! I have had to purchase special lotions for my body to keep the skin from cracking and bleeding. BUT!! The only change I have had to make in my daily skin cleansing/moisturizing routine is to use the Reparative Age-Defying serum both AM and PM. And my skin on my face is just as soft and fresh as it was before I started the meds.

  • Exciting Mineral Makeup Line Stay ON

Posted on May 5th, 2010 tracy No comments

    HI Ladies,

We here at Nature’s Genesis have been testing out a new Mineral Make up line. (We will still be carrying our current line, but it is nice to offer a few more selections.) This line has some amazing reviews, so we thought we should check it out and see if it is all it’s supposed to be.

So far, I have not had to touch up my mineral foundation at all during the day, which is quite unusual. It is staying on until I wash my face at night. As most of you know, that doesn’t happen with to many mineral makeup lines. The other plus is that this is bismuth free. Bismuth is known to cause irritations to your skin and create, red, small bumps, pustules, and can cause a burning sensation or cause your face to look swollen. In a few weeks time, you could have full blown acne. Not fun!

If you wonder where all the “shine” comes from, Bismuth Oxychloride is the culprit. Since summer is coming, which translates humidity in our neck of the woods, you will look like an oil slick if you are using anything with Bismuth Oxycholoride.

Testimonies are in that this has staying power even in hot, humid weather. All of us who live in states with 90% humidity give this a hearty – YEAH!

Another great point is that it has a natural SPF Protection of 26, and in addition to the SPF protection it also has great UVA Protection.

From the responses I received, or should I say lack of responses, the last contest was obviously a dud, Sorry!

Here’s goes another try. Whoever sends me an idea that could generate potential newsletter subscribers, and I use your idea, I will send you a free skincare product. It will be something from Shea Terra, Nature’s Genesis, Rejuva or our new mineral makeup line. (I hope this takes off better then our last contest:)
